چکیده
Characterizing the top seal integrity of organic-rich caprock shale is critical in hydrocarbon exploration and fluid storage sites assessment because acts as a barrier to low-density upward migrating fluids. This study investigated geomechanical properties Upper Jurassic shales various basins from Norwegian Continental Shelf. Usually, paleo-deposition diagenesis vary basin basin, which influences shale; hence, integrity. Fourteen (14) wells four (4) different within Shelf were analyzed evaluate effects processes acting on properties. Comparative mineralogy-based also investigated. We include thorough review distribution organic inorganic components utilizing SEM 3D microtomography they relate development propagation microfractures. Five (5) three (3) contain measured shear sonic logs. These used for petrophysics rock physics analysis. Three elastic properties-based brittleness indices estimated compared. The percentage mineral fractions studied varied significantly between basins, reflected mineralogical evaluation. Irrespective relative changes have been observed. Young’s Modulus–Poisson’s ratio-based empirical equation underestimated compared with mineralogy- acoustic estimation. A better match has observed indices. However, both methods limitations, an integrated approach recommended Brittleness are qualitative seal; further investigation required quantify sealing

Drilling Productivity on the Norwegian Continental Shelf
Recently, we have seen falling oil prices combined with sticky costs at a high level in the petroleum industry. This cause cost cuts and project postponements, thus challenging reserve replacement of oil companies and security of supply for consumers. Costs are particularly high for drilling. High rig rates are obviously important. In new contracts for high-spec semi rigs on the Norwegian Conti...
متن کاملPyrolytic and spectroscopic study of a sulphur-rich kerogen from the ``Kashpir oil shales'' (Upper Jurassic, Russian platform)
The kerogen of an organic-rich sample, termed f top, from the Gorodische section (Russian platform) was studied using a combination of microscopic, spectroscopic and pyrolytic methods so as to examine its chemical structure, source organisms and formation pathway(s). This kerogen, which is mainly composed of orange gel-like, nanoscopically amorphous organic matter, exhibits a relatively high al...

متن کاملFacilitating Adequate Prioritization of Safety Goals in Distributed Teams at the Norwegian Continental Shelf
Petroleum installation employees have to balance safety goals versus other types of goals as a part of their daily work activities. To reduce the risk for incidents and accidents, it is critical to obtain a better understanding of how to facilitate adequate prioritization of safety goals, i.e., prioritizations in accordance with the standards set by the company in charge. The first part of the ...
متن کاملRisk Influence Modeling of Recent Developments in Helicopter Safety on the Norwegian Continental Shelf
Helicopter Safety Study 3 (HSS-3) is a Norwegian joint industry research project established in 2008. The main objectives of the study are to assess the risk level associated with offshore helicopter transportation, propose indicators to monitor safety, and identify safety measures for further improvement. The study will address risk through two complementary approaches: one using risk influenc...
